Vaughan & Bushnell 9XXX Review: Vaughan 9 10-Ounce -InchLittle Pro-Inch Professional Rip Hammer, Smooth Face, White Hickory Handle.. I purchased two of these Vaughan rip hammers, a 10-oz for smaller nails and a 16oz for general use. The quality and workmanship is well above that of inexpensive store-bought hammers, but there were three labels (company logo, barcode, & safety warning) on each of the wooden handles which left behind considerable glue after removal. Even worse, nothing (water, oil, WD-40, etc) was entirely successful in removing all the glue from the pores of that wood.
